SF Plastering can provide you with a floor screed solution to suit any project, ranging from small extensions and residential properties to large commercial developments. We use a wide range of products to suit every job’s particular requirement. Liquid floor screeds are about 20% more efficient than traditional screeds when used in conjunction with under floor heating, making them the obvious choice. These screeds are pumpable which allows for very fast application periods, and we can provide you with floors that can be fully dried out within days. Flowing screeds are the perfect solution for a straight and level floor that can be poured at a maximum of 100mm. contact us

Range of Benefits

Surface Preparation

Insulation

Always ensure that the insulation is installed to a floor free from high spots and debris, to prevent the boards from movement. The boards should have staggered joints and butt as tightly together as possible. Mechanically fix loose boards where necessary. All perimeter walls must have an insulation upstand, made from either rigid board insulation or 10mm polythene foam expansion strip.

Slip Sheets

A layer of polythene must be placed on top of the insulation prior to the under floor heating with overlaps of 100mm. The joints must be sealed thoroughly with tape and the polythene should be pulled tightly across the floor, leaving no air pockets or creases. It must continue up the face of the upstand and be taped to form a seal. The polythene must also be tucked neatly into all corners

.

Laying Pipework

Ensure all pipework is adequately secured at 300mm centres. Wherever possible the pipework should be filled with water, as the pipes will float because of the density of the screed. This will help to prevent them from lifting to the surface.

Screed Installation

During and for four days after, the floor screed should be protected from draughts. All windows must be closed or sealed during this period. Before any floor finishes are applied, such as tile or wooden floors etc., the floor must be sealed with an appropriate product according to screed manufacturers guidelines.
